Mombasa County has today received medicine worth 7 million Kenya Shillings from the Government Medical Supplier KEMSA.
This is part of the medical supplies worth over 50 million that the county will receive and be distributed to all county health facilities.
Speaking during the event, the governor acknowledged the ongoing biometric registration of Mombasa Care.

Mombasa Care is a health insurance cover provided to the vulnerable residents of the County.
He also reinstated the updated payments to the supplier, saying there are no debts with the county government.
Therefore this will mean that County residents can access quality medical services across the county.
Governor Abdulswamad added that the step is to ensure the medical facilities are fully equipped.
The governor also assured that there will be the employment of more staff to ensure there is smooth running in the facilities.

Governor Abdulswamad has been keen on ensuring health is a top priority in his county since he took office.
Alongside health, among the governors top agendas for the county has been the economy of the coast residents.
This has seen him steer mega projects like the ultra modern SBS Marikiti complex next to the famous Mackinnon market.
Marikiti complex is located in the central business district, CBD in Mombasa town which the county government is keen on upgrading.

State of Mombasa
According to the auditor general, Mombasa county has had its financial books in order during governor Abdulswamads tenure in the county.
Since assuming office the governor Sharrif has stayed clear of national politics which have taken center stage over a shift in party allegiances.
However, Mombasa has played a key role in the recent political turmoil between the national government and the opposition.
The governor has hosted his party leaders among other leaders in talks on the way forward in the political deadlock.
