In Mombasa County, a woman is urging President William Ruto’s government to provide rooms for prisoners to have conjugal rights with their spouses and partners.
She believes that without such provisions, individuals may struggle to control their desires.
Gradually leading to potential consequences like turning to homosexuality.
Causing them to run away, complicating the reintegration process when the imprisoned individual is released.

“Both men and women can’t hold back; just think about being imprisoned for five years.
How can women endure such a long time without intimacy?” she questioned.
Drawing attention to a scenario where a man completes a five-year sentence.
Only to find his wife has left him, she emphasised the challenges of starting life anew.
To address this, she suggested allowing women to visit their incarcerated partners so that they can enjoy conjugal rights.

According to her, some countries already permit prisoners to have conjugal visits, and she questioned why Kenya has not adopted a similar approach.
She directly appealed to the president, urging him to support women in this matter to prevent husbands from resorting to homosexuality in prison.
“We are asking our president to assist women in this matter so that our husbands do not turn to homosexuality while in prison.
There’s a lot of inappropriate activities happening,” she alleged.
