Mosiria vows to crackdown on brothels and strip clubs in Nairobi

Nairobi City County’s Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, has raised concerns over the growing number of brothels and strip clubs operating in Pipeline area.

Brothels and strip clubs in family spaces

Mosiria revealed that a new brothel is set to open in Pipeline, adding to the many already operating in the area. He expressed his shock at how strip clubs and brothels thrive in residential buildings, exposing families and children to immoral activities.

“We have brothels in Pipeline and strip clubs with families living just above them,” Mosiria stated. He questioned how such businesses are allowed to operate in the same buildings where children live.

Shocking strip club experience

Sharing a personal experience, Mosiria recalled visiting a strip club in Nairobi. “There was a time I went to a strip club, and it was dark. When I put the lights on, in 10 seconds, all the men ran away,” he said.

He admitted that he was unsure if stripping is legal in Kenya but had seen many such clubs in the CBD during his campus years.

Crackdown on noise and immorality

Mosiria announced plans to visit loud nightclubs and strip clubs to address noise pollution affecting families. He criticized the behavior of men abandoning their wives to spend time and money in these establishments.

“We are coming for you,” he warned, emphasizing that the county’s goal is to restore order. He added that addressing noise pollution should go hand in hand with preserving the moral fabric of society.

Call for action

Mosiria condemned the normalization of women walking naked around family spaces, saying it is unacceptable. He urged authorities to take action against businesses that compromise family values and disrupt peaceful living conditions.

His remarks have sparked debate, with many residents supporting his efforts while others question the legality of strip clubs in Kenya.
