Tigania East member of parliament Mpuru Aburi has accused Lawyer Cliff Ombeta of conning him Ksh1.5 million.
Aburi claimed that the lawyer blocked his number and has been evading him since he took the money.
“I gave Cliff Ombeta Ksh1.5 million then he blocked my number; I swear before God,” said Aburi.
Aburi was speaking after joining the Senate Committee that was interrogating Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church over the Shakahola massacre.

Pastor Ezekiel was accompanied by his lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Dunstan Omari during the session with the Senate Committee.
At the same time, the MP revealed to the committee that he had to join the Senate session specifically to face Ombeta after seeing him on TV.
“I saw Ombeta live on TV and I decided to come here for him to give me my money, Ksh1.5 million, since he blocked my phone number,” said Aburi.
The committee chairperson, Danson Mungatana advised the MP to use other channels in demanding for his money, adding that the committee lacks jurisdiction in discussing the same.

On the other hand, Pastor Ezekiel told the committee that he had no links to the Shakahola massacre, adding that his church does not exploit followers.
Ezekiel maintained that he believes in preaching the gospel in a manner that does not harm worshippers.
“I preach live but use recorded programs at night. I do that because it makes it easier for someone to ask questions about what I preach,” he said.

The probe was launched after the discovery and exhumation of hundreds of bodies from the Shakahola forest.
