Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino (real name Paul Ongili) is celebrating his birthday today (October 10).
He blew his own trumpet while describing himself as an exceptional leader.
Babu Owino served as a longtime student at the University of Nairobi before joining politics.
“On this Day THE FUTURE was Born. Happy birthday to the Leader who exudes sophistication, valor, and charm.A Leader who is unparalleled, unmatched, and unequaled. The only one of his kind,” he began.
Wishes for the new year
The second-term lawmaker prayed for peace, love, and good health as well as more years to extend his remarkable leadership skills in the country.
“May my life be filled with peace, love, great health, generosity, humanity, and humility. May I continue commanding respect with a mere glance and inspire devotion with a single word.
“May my reign be long, marked by pomp, grandeur, magnificence, majesty, and service. Happy Birthday to the Greatest of All Time. His Handsomeness and Tibimness BABU OWINO,” the father of two added.
Babu Owino sells chang’aa to survive
Born and bred in Nyalenda slums, Kisumu County, Babu Owino’s upbringing was tough.
“My mother resolved to sell an illicit brew called ‘chang’aa’ after my father passed away,” he interestingly revealed during an interview on TV47’s Mfahamu Kiongozi show.
“Life was unbearable,” he said in hindsight. Babu lost his father when he was in standard three. Being the last born in a family of three, he was forced to grow up faster than his peers.
He helped his mother sell ‘chang’aa’, getting proceeds that took him through school.
The legislator reflected on the many times he got arrested because of selling chang’aa since he was a primary school pupil.
“I used to be arrested even when in primary school. There is a policeman who used to arrest me a lot and I even saw him beating my mum.
“He is now retired and he recently called me asking for a bursary for his child, I will give him the bursary,” Babu Owino added.
The vibrant politician recently hinted that he would go for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2027 although he is yet to confirm his stand.
