Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has shared the heartbreaking loss of her son, urging parents to always know their children’s locations and activities.
The tragic accident
Speaking during a memorial service at Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa, Elachi recalled the final days of her son, Elvis.

“The pain of losing a child is unbearable. No parent should have to go through it,” she said.
She shared how Elvis received an urgent call from his friend and rushed to assist him. On his way back home, his car suffered a tire burst, causing him to lose control.
In an attempt to stabilize the vehicle, he engaged the emergency brakes. Unfortunately, the car skidded and crashed, resulting in a severe head injury. Despite medical efforts, Elvis did not survive.
A Mother’s grief and message to parents
Elachi revealed that, as doctors worked to save her son, she had a strong feeling that he would not make it.
She emphasized the importance of prayer and urged parents to be more involved in their children’s lives, especially in a time when many young people prefer to face struggles alone.
She explained that today’s generation faces unique pressures. “Times have changed. This generation is dealing with pressures we never faced. As parents, we need to be present, listen, and understand what they are going through,” she said.
A call for support and action
Elachi’s emotional appeal serves as a wake-up call for parents to be more involved in their children’s lives. She urged communities to create supportive environments, ensuring young people don’t feel isolated or unheard.
“Losing Elvis has taught me a painful lesson, and I hope no other parent has to experience this,” she concluded.
