Member of Parliament (MP) George Kaluma has passionately advocated for an immediate halt to all forms of what he refers to as genital mutilation across Kenya.
Emphasizing the urgent need to protect the dignity and well-being of young people.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Kaluma expressed profound concerns.
Especially over the escalating incidences of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), teenage pregnancies, and early marriages, particularly in communities where male circumcision is prevalent.
“Why should communities that practice male genital mutilation insist on subjecting their daughters to the horrors of FGM?
If FGM is deemed beneficial, why do men from these communities seek relationships with women from cultures that reject this practice?”
MP Kaluma questioned, challenging the underlying logic behind such harmful traditions.

Highlighting the global context, Kaluma stressed that circumcision, practiced by a minority, needs critical reevaluation.
“Worldwide, circumcision is practiced by a mere 10% of individuals.
Let us unequivocally put an end to all forms of genital mutilation.
