MP Kuria Kimani forgives home invaders and calls for their release

Molo Member of Parliament Kuria Kimani has announced that he has forgiven those who invaded and looted his home during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests.

In a compassionate move, he took to X on Saturday to express his desire for the release of those arrested in connection with the incident.

“I ask @DCI_Kenya and the police to withdraw charges against all the arrested and charged youth.

Let them be released so that they can get back to work,” Kimani wrote, urging the authorities to drop all charges and set the apprehended individuals free.

Despite his generous pardon, the MP issued a stern warning against any future invasions. He emphasized that while he is willing to forgive the first incident, any repeat offences will not be tolerated.

“But let us also agree on one thing, doing it once is not a mistake but repeating it is a mistake.

Let us never repeat that despite how angry we will be,” he stated firmly.

Kuria Kimani, who serves as the National Assembly Finance and Planning Chairperson, faced significant backlash during the protests.

Protesters damaged his properties

He was criticized for his role in supporting the controversial Finance Bill 2024, which has since been withdrawn.

The protesters, angered by the bill, targeted his Molo residence, looting valuable items before setting the house on fire.

Kimani was not the only leader affected by the unrest. Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi’s nightclub, Timba XO, was invaded by protesters who stole spirits and other property of unknown value.

In Nyeri, demonstrators looted and torched the Chieni supermarket, which is owned by Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina.

Despite the turmoil, MP Kimani’s decision to forgive the invaders highlighted a path toward reconciliation and peace.

His message was clear: while forgiveness is granted, respect for the law and others’ property must prevail.
