Auctioneers have obtained a court order to take property of Mumias East member of parliament (MP) Peter Salasya after he failed to pay a debt of Ksh500,000.
The auctioneers are expected to auction Salasya’s property to settle the debt and interest owed to businessman Robert Lutta.
Armok Auctioneers have acquired permission to take the MP’s property on behalf of the businessman, Robert Lutta.
This is after Salasya failed to pay the debt despite the court ordering him to refund the money he had borrowed from the businessman.
On November 27, 2023, Kakamega Magistrate Gladys Kiama in her ruling, directed Salasya to pay the debt of Ksh500,000 and costs of the case.

The MP was expected to pay the debt within 30 days.
The businessman through his lawyer Edwin Wafula filed the case on October 23, 2023, stating that he lent the money to Peter Salasya through KCB bank.
In addition, the lawyer produced documents from KCB, Mumias branch as evidence in court as proof of how the money was transferred to Salasya’s bank account.

On the contrary, Salasya denied borrowing money from the businessman, claiming that it was him who loaned Lutta Ksh1 million through his advisor Benard Kemba.
However, the court dismissed Salasya’s argument due to lack of sufficient evidence.
