MP Peter Salasya shows off more cash, mocks lawyer in Ksh500k debt case

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has taken to social media to flaunt sums of money just days after the court ordered him to settle a Ksh.500,000 debt owed to businessman Robert Lutta.

Salasya, who is said to have borrowed the money on December 13, 2022, with an agreement to repay within two months, also mocked Lutta’s lawyer in the case that unfolded at the Kakamega Small Claims Court.

“I saw the silly lawyer who took me to court bragging to the public on social media about how he is going to attach my V8 Land Cruiser I bought at 12M and my other car just because of 500k. I have decided to add this cash to my pockets,” Salasya said in a social media post.

The controversial lawmaker accused lawyer Edwin Wafula of harbouring a plan to shame Mumias East, saying he is willing to pay twice the amount owed.

“You cannot shame my constituency to that extent. We can even make it 1M free for you. Even if you want one million, we can harvest sugarcane and pay you because Mumias Sugar Company is now up and running,” the legislator added.

The MP is being investigated on allegations of making death threats to Magistrate Gladys Kiama of the Kakamega Small Claims Court.

“The Commission has deployed its team to the ground to conduct further investigations and engage the agencies handling the matter with a view of taking appropriate action in line with its mandate,” the Judicial Service Commission in a statement.

Salasya has since denied the accusations.
