MPs accuse Gachagua of misleading Kenyans, Kalonzo

A section of MPs allied to President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have launched a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of lacking a concrete plan to address the needs of Kenyans and misleading Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka with false promises of a unity pact.

Leading the offensive, Buuri MP Rindikiri Mugambi accused Gachagua of attempting to manipulate Kalonzo into believing that joining forces with him would help unseat President Ruto. Mugambi dismissed Gachagua’s influence, arguing that he had been in government for two years without delivering any tangible results for Kenyans.

The legislator also rubbished Gachagua’s claims that the Mt. Kenya region’s support was already secured, asserting that as a representative from Meru, he understood the political dynamics of the region better. He cautioned the Kamba community against being swayed by political rhetoric and instead encouraged them to fully embrace the government to benefit from its development agenda.

Housing Committee Chair Johana Ng’eno echoed similar sentiments, ridiculing those predicting the downfall of President Ruto’s administration. He emphasized that Ruto’s long political struggle to secure the presidency meant that unseating him would not be an easy task. The Emurwa Dikir MP urged Kenyans to allow their leaders time to implement their agenda, stating that proper judgment should be made after a full five-year term.

Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris called on former President Uhuru Kenyatta to mediate a meeting between President Ruto and Raila Odinga to discuss critical national matters. She dismissed claims that Raila had gone silent, arguing that the opposition leader only speaks when necessary and when things are not going in the right direction.

Host MP Caleb Mule, on his part, urged the Kamba community to actively support the current administration, lamenting that they had been sidelined in governance for the past fifteen years. He stressed that now was the time for the region to engage fully with the government to secure its fair share of development.

The leaders made these remarks during the official commissioning of the Kimutwa ESP Market in Kalama Ward, Machakos Town Constituency. The project aligns with President Ruto’s commitment to empowering small-scale traders and integrating informal workers into the mainstream economy. The modern market will feature state-of-the-art smart stalls, cold storage facilities, an ICT hub, and other essential amenities aimed at improving trade and boosting local businesses.
