Members of Parliament (MPs) on Friday, October 18 afternoon approved the nomination of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.
The lawmakers voted electronically at the National Assembly, to approve Kindiki’s nomination in a record time, few hours after President William Ruto had notified Speaker Moses Wetangula of his decision.
The 236 MPs who were in the august House voted to approve Prof. Kindiki. There were zero Abstentions and zero Nays.
Kindiki will take over from Rigathi Gachagua after Senators on Thursday, October 17 uphold his impeachment.
Before this appointment, Kindiki served as the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
