The National Assembly Defence Committee on Tuesday April 16, 2024 rejected President William Ruto’s nominee for Consul-General to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The members of parliament (MPs) rejected Charles Githinji’s nomination after he appeared before the National Assembly committee with a form four certificate and a driving license only.
According to the MPs, Githinji’s nomination for the job was rejected because he lacked the requisite academic and professional qualifications and experience for the job

While appearing before the MPs for the interview, Githinji said that he has working experience in running a petrol station.
A degree from a recognised university is among the requirements for the Consul-General job.
However, other nominees were approved by the National Assembly Committee.
