Mt Kenya is in government to stay- MP Kaguchia

Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) John Kaguchia is confident that the Mt Kenya region will remain in President William Ruto’s government until 2032.

He emphasized that Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua will continue to serve as second in command of Kenya and leader of Mt. Kenya region.

This statement comes amidst rumors of a fallout between President Ruto and DP Gachagua.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Monday morning, the MP downplayed the alleged fallout between Ruto and his Deputy saying they will not pull out the people of Mt. Kenya from the government.

”Whatever the case, whatever it takes, Mt. Kenya region is in government to stay. We are in the government of President Willam Ruto to stay. The president is the leader of government in Kenya and all of us are loyal to him as the president of Kenya.

”The process of pull and push in political space is a normal process there’s no time you will have a political process that’s clean,” he added.

On Sunday however, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed dismissed the report on the discord.
”To the best of my knowledge, there is no issue between the President and his Deputy,” Hussein said.

The DP also made a public appearance, the first since his long-week ‘absence’, during which he urged the people of Mt. Kenya region to remain united.

”As the DP I decided to speak less and work more for the last 10 months, as the spokesperson of the Kikuyu community, I’m ready to work for my people,” Gachagua added.
