Mudavadi arrives in Ethiopia to lead last-minute campaigns for Raila’s AUC bid

Prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Tuesday February 11, 2025 for the African Union (AU) Summit, to lead the last-minute campaigns for Raila Odinga’s AUC Chair bid.

In a statement on Tuesday evening, Mudavadi noted that the AU Summit is  a landmark event where Kenya has presented a candidate for African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson.

“As we approach the final stretch, I will engage in the last-mile campaign for Raila Odinga, rallying support from African Heads of State ahead of the crucial vote.

“His leadership at the AUC would elevate Kenya’s influence and strengthen Africa’s collective voice on the global stage,” Mudavadi noted.

During the Summit, Mudavadi will participate in the AU’s 46th Executive Council Session, where Foreign Ministers will elect AUC Commissioners.

This will set the stage for the 38th AU Assembly, themed “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations,” where President William Ruto will be in attendance.

Other key meetings Mudavadi will attend include; African Union Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (AU CEVAWG), Changing the story on Malaria: A big push to deliver a Malaria-free Africa, High-Level event on Immunization Themed “Rearming Africa’s Commitment to Immunization and other events.
