Mudavadi may succeed President Ruto – political analyst

Politics

Political analyst Daniel Orogo has disclosed that Chief Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi may take over from President William Ruto when he finishes his two terms in office.

Speaking during an interview with Fred Indimuli on TV47 Morning Cafe show, Orogo stated that Mudavadi may take over the presidency from President William Ruto, considering the roles he has been assigned in the Kenya Kwanza government.

“His experience in economic issues, his international image, and also his stature as a unifying person would definitely make him a running mate and heir to President Ruto,” said Orogo.

The political analyst explained that discussions of making Mudavadi president started way back in 2013 when former President Kibaki (now deceased) was leaving office after his two terms.

He added that Mudavadi was in the same political camp with Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto before the 2013 elections but things didn’t work in his favour by then.

His remarks emerged a day after President Ruto assigned Mudavadi a new role as Foreign Affairs cabinet secretary in addition to his chief cabinet secretary role.

After the cabinet reshuffle, Mudavadi appreciated the President for assigning him the new role in a statement posted on his X account.

“I express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency for the trust placed in me by assigning me the additional vital role of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.”

“I am fully aware of the significance of my dual role, and I embrace the opportunity with a profound sense of duty and dedication,” read part of Mudavadi’s statement.

Luhya leaders on the presidency

On the other hand, politicians from Western Kenya had on September 8, 2023, claimed that President Ruto would support a presidential candidate from the Luhya Community to succeed him in 2032.

“We asked our people to support William Ruto because we knew he holds the key to a Luhiya president in the 2032 elections,” claimed Senator Khalwale.

According to a reliable source, political leaders from the Western region are supporting the candidature of Musalia Mudavadi in the 2032 elections.
