Mumias: Residents scramble for free alcohol after lorry accident

Residents of Mumias in Kakamega County scrambled for free alcoholic drinks on Monday May 6, after a lorry that was transporting beer was involved in an accident.

This was after residents took advantage of the accident by looting from the lorry that was transporting local beer brands to entertainment joints and clubs in the region.

According to the police report, the truck driver survived with minor injuries during the accident and was rushed to a nearby health center for treatment.

Police have launched investigations into the cause of the accident but preliminary report indicates that the truck veered off the road after losing control.

At the same time, eyewitnesses told police that the truck was over speeding when the accident occurred.

In a video captured during the incident, residents could be seen escaping with with boxes and crates of different beer brands.
