Police in Ganze, Kilifi County, are investigating an incident where a man was found murdered and his body burnt.
The burnt body of Katana Mula was found in Migamboni village on Sunday, February 9 night.
Police suspect that the 54-year-old was murdered because of a protracted land dispute in the area.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that on the fateful day, Mula had attended a funeral in the neighbourhood. After the burial, it is reported that a group of people trailed him to his house, some 200 meters away.
Although an autopsy has not been conducted on the body, police say that he was first hit on the head with a blunt object, chopped off his left hand and both legs, before setting him on fire.
The body was removed to Kilifi County Referral Hospital as investigations start in earnest.
No arrestes have been made yet.
