Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General, Cleophas Malala, has raised alarm over the alleged kidnapping of his two close family members.
The outspoken politician, who has been a prominent figure in Kenyan politics, disclosed that his son and his 19 year old brother-in-law were abducted at gunpoint in a shocking incident that took place on Monday September 23, 2024 at night.
In addition, the former Kakamega Senator claimed that the two were subjected to torture for almost six hours in an effort to get them to divulge his whereabouts.
Malala described the incident in detail and added that, when his supposed attackers were unable to find him, the two were subsequently discarded along Thika Road.
“They were tortured for six hours to disclose my whereabouts or that of my wife and to show them the way to my residence in Kitengela.
After failing to find me or my spouse at home they dumped the two along Thika Road; I have picked them up safe but traumatized and shaken,” Malala noted in a statement on his X account.
This developing story highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures, particularly for public figures and their families, to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
Barely two days have passed after Malala disclosed the names of two Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party members he said had been contacted to lead the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The former lawmaker accused Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay town legislator Peter Kaluma of attempting to present a motion against the deputy president while speaking during a church service in Thika, Kiambu County.
Malala continued by cautioning President William Ruto that betraying his deputy would ultimately result in the president’s removal.
“I have been informed that the MPs being fronted to table the impeachment motion against Gachagua are Junet Mohamed and Peter Kaluma.
I’m telling you, Mr President, those MPs will start by impeaching Gachagua, and then they will turn against you in 2027,” he stated.
At that time, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba reiterated Malala’s views, claiming that preparations were in place to remove DP Gachagua from office and threatening serious repercussions for President Ruto’s government.
“There are some elements that wake up every day with a plot on how to ensure you , Rigathi Gachagua don’t succeed.” Wamuchomba said.
