Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has asserted that the club is on the right path under Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino after the Blues secured a spot in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup.
Speaking after edging out Newcastle United 4-2 on post-match penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time, in which he scored a late equalizer, Mudryk underscored the importance of trusting the ongoing work at Stamford Bridge.
“We are going in the right direction. We just have to trust in the process, the manager, and each other. We are building a really strong team. Sometimes to create something big, you need time,” he said as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Similar sentiments were shared by Pochettino who is blowing hot and cold and dividing opinions since being appointed Chelsea manager in May 2023 on a two-year deal with an option of a further year.
The 51-year-old manager believes his team is a work in progress and it is only a matter of time before the glory days are back at Stamford Bridge.
“We need to keep believing. I trust this project, and the players too. That’s how we are going to create a great team here. Being together will increase the level. We are creating a very good bond together,” Pochettino said.
