Nairobi: 3 suspects arrested for stealing Ksh3.6 million in Westlands

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Monday October 21, 2024 arrested three suspects linked to theft of electronic items and Ksh3,659,000 in US currency of $24,500 at a house in Westlands, Nairobi.

In a statement, the DCI reported that the three suspects were traced to their hideout in Kawangware, where they were arrested.

Some of the stolen electronics were also recovered from the suspects during the incident.

According to the DCI, the two men masterminded the robbery incident by involving a house girl who was working in the targeted house that belonged to a South Sudanese national before making away with the goods.

“In the incident which took place on September 24, the house owner (a South Sudanese national) arrived at her home located along Rhapta Road Westlands to find her house girl missing, and along with her USD 24,500, an iPhone 15, a Samsung Z Flip and several pieces of jewellery,’’ the DCI shared in a statement.

During the arrest, the detectives also found a range of new items including a Boxer motorcycle, a 55-inch TV, a microwave, and a laptop among other items.

“After weeks of forensic trial, detectives moved in and arrested the said suspects, in whose possession were found a range of brand new items including a Boxer motorcycle (Reg No. KMGN 840N), a 55-inch Vitron TV, Hanmac microwave, HP laptop, NNix cooker oven, 6kg Pro gas cylinder, a five-seater sofa, a mattress, two watches, and three brand-new Samsung A50 phones,’’ DCI reported.

The officers also found with the suspects a land purchase agreement valued at Ksh423,000 that was to be concluded in Nandi County.

“Also confiscated for investigation was an agreement for the purchase of a parcel of land in Kapkangani, Nandi County valued at Ksh 423,000,’’ the DCI added.

The three suspects were placed in custody as the detectives continued with investigations for more evidence in relation to the case.
