Nairobi Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria found himself in a tense situation in the CBD when he had a confrontation with a hawker.
In a video, Mosiria is seen with his team attempting to reason with the woman, asking her to move. However, the woman refuses and starts insulting Mosiria and his team.
“I have stayed here for years, and I’m not leaving. Call those cars to come and pick me. Call Sakaja to come for me, tell him I am here to take me to Lang’ata. You call it hell, I call it home,” the woman is heard shouting.
“My nose is facing downwards while yours is facing upwards. Do not threaten me with Sakaja. Call it home,” she added.
Mosiria chose not to respond and walked away with his team. The woman continued her rant, which drew a crowd of onlookers.
Kenyans shared their thoughts on the incident on social media, with one user commenting, “Kiburi ni kama ya Man-U. Hii Kenya inahitaji uchizi tu kidogo kama madhee.” Another remarked, “Even if you are fearless, people should respect themselves and respect others.”
Countywide crackdown on hotels
Meanwhile, Mosiria has announced a crackdown on all food premises within Nairobi County, to ensure that they strictly follow all public health guidelines.
He announced this after an impromptu inspection of a hotel along Mfangano Lane in CBD revealed shocking disregard of public safety standards.
