The shutdown is scheduled to start at 6:00 am on Thursday, October 12, 2023, and conclude at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 13, 2023.

This temporary closure is necessary to facilitate the repair of a significant leakage in the raw water pipeline.

Additionally, the leakage has been found to be between the Matara Raw Water Chamber and the Ngethu Water Treatment Plant.

Moreover, scheduled maintenance will be conducted at the Kiambu reservoir in preparation for the upcoming El Niño rains.
