Nairobi Gusii leaders have raised their voices against marginalization, calling for unity and inclusivity in community affairs.
Led by their spokesperson, Geoffrey Mosiria, who also serves as the Gusii Diaspora Spokesperson.
They expressed deep disappointment over a recent meeting organized by a section of elected Gusii leaders.
The Nairobi-based leaders criticized the gathering for its exclusivity.
Pointing out that it involved only a small group of politicians from the Gusii region while sidelining their counterparts in Nairobi.
This omission, they argued, disregarded the vibrant contributions of the Gusii diaspora residing and working in the capital.
“For far too long, Nairobi Gusii leadership has been overlooked in critical forums and excluded from major national decision-making processes.
Including appointments to top government positions,” Mosiria stated.
The leaders emphasized that the contributions of the Gusii community in Nairobi are vital to the socio-economic and political growth of the region.
Mosiria called for an all-inclusive approach, urging leaders from all regions to unite for the betterment of the Gusii people.
Gusii leaders speak up
“For our community to thrive politically and economically, we must prioritize inclusivity and unity. The contributions of the Gusii diaspora in Nairobi cannot be ignored,” he asserted.
In addition to their concerns, the Nairobi Gusii leaders proposed an all-inclusive meeting.
To address the persistent issues of neglect and marginalization faced by the Gusii diaspora in Nairobi.
They highlighted the need to recognize the pivotal role this group plays in shaping the community’s future.
While ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of geographical location.
The call for unity comes at a time when communities across Kenya are increasingly advocating for fairness and representation in decision-making.
The Nairobi Gusii leaders believe that fostering inclusivity is the key to unlocking the potential of the Gusii people.
Within and outside their traditional homeland.
Their vision is clear: a united, inclusive Gusii community where everyone has a seat at the table.
