A man who allegedly broke into Parliament and disabled CCTV cameras a day before Anti Finance Bill protesters stormed in has been charged at Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday July 10, 2024.

Kelvin Mwamiri Mangare is accused of gaining access into Parliament four times between April and July 2024 and was allegedly found with electrical switches stolen from Parliament building worth Ksh2.6 million at the time of his arrest on Monday.

According to the charges filed against Mwamiri, he is alleged to have broken into the basement No. 2 area of the main Parliament building on April 23, where he stole two CISCO CCTV switches belonging to Maga security solution company.

The theft reportedly took place at around 6:30 pm along Parliament Road. Mwamiri was also charged with breaking into Parliament on May 20 at around 6 pm and stealing more CCTV switches from Maga security solution company.

The accused faced two more counts of charges and an alternative count of handling goods believed to be stolen.
