Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations after armed shot a businessman before stealing Ksh3.9 million from him in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The 26 year old businessman, identified as Ali Mohamed is nursing severe injuries at a Nairobi hospital after being shot during the robbery incident that happened on Saturday March 30, 2024.
According to the police report, the robbers was riding on a motorbike before attacking Adan who was on a bodaboda motorbike along a busy road in Eastleigh.
The incident was captured on CCTV cameras along the road, showing how the suspect sped and overtook the victim, before jumping off the motorbike and shooting the victim and escaping with cash.
In the CCTV video, the suspect is seen demanding for the bag of money, but Adan refused to hand over the money, leading to the shooting at close range.
Aden fell off from the motorcycle as the bodaboda rider watched helplessly, as the robber escaped.
The doctor’s opinion
According to the medical report, the bullet injured the spinal cord of the victim and strayed through the back.
The police noted that Adan on his way to the bank to deposit the money before robbers struck.
He arrived at the bank late after it was closed and was attacked as he was going home with the money using bodaboda.
The cash was from a two day sale of oil products from his boss in Nairobi.
At the same time, police have urged entrepreneurs to stay cautious and install CCTV cameras for their personal security.
