In the Sunton Area, Kasarani, two suspected thieves were shot and killed during a failed robbery attempt.
Police confirmed that the shooting occurred on Sunday January 5, 2025 in the morning after the suspects attacked a man.
“The shooting happened on Sunday morning following a botched robbery on a man who was being attacked,” police reported.
Officers on patrol in the area heard cries for help and immediately rushed to the scene. They found three men attempting to rob the victim, which led to a brief chase.
“The group refused to comply with orders to surrender from the police, as one of the suspects was in possession of a homemade gun,” police reported.
One of the suspects managed to escape with injuries as he fled toward the Shilanga area. Police later recovered a homemade pistol capable of firing, a single 9mm round, and a machete from the scene.
Bodies of the suspects were taken to the City Mortuary, where they await postmortem and identification.
Meanwhile, in response to the rising cases of violent robberies, Nairobi Police Chief Adamson Bungei announced increased patrols in the city.
“The police have since arrested dozens of suspects in connection with the cases,” Bungei said. “Some of the suspects are in court for now, and others are under investigation,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Kerwa Town, Kiambu County, a woman was questioned by police after fatally stabbing an intruder. The man’s body was found in her home with stab wounds to the chest. “The body of the man was found sprawled in the woman’s home with stab wounds in the chest,” police confirmed.
The woman told police that the man had forcibly entered her house. “The man forcefully entered my house without my permission. As a result, I grabbed a kitchen knife to fight him off,” she explained.
Police recovered the blood-stained kitchen knife as evidence. The man’s body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigation. “The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations,” police concluded.
