Nairobi woman who was caught in viral video assaulting security guard denies charges

A woman who was captured in a viral video assaulting a security guard in Nyayo estate, Embakasi, Nairobi County, has denied charges.

The suspect, Alvina Ochieng, was arraigned at Makadara Law Courts on Friday where she was charged with assaulting and causing bodily harm to the security guard identified as Miriam Sifuna.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, September 26.

Threatening The Security Guard

Alvina Ochieng is also facing charges of threatening the security guard. In the video, she was captured uttering the words ‘Nitakuua (I’ll kill you) to the guard.

The suspect was seen dragging the female security officer wearing white and navy blue uniform, across a building before pushing her to the ground.

An unidentified man standing close to them attempted to break off Ochieng who was choking the guard but to no avail.

She went on to push the guard to the floor as neighbors gathered to watch the unfolding events.

Affair With Her Husband

Apparently, Alvina Ochieng accused the guard of having an affair with her husband.

The following day, Miriam Sifuna reported the matter at Embakasi Police Station and police sought the woman.

She was allegedly arrested at her office in Westlands, Nairobi and arraigned before Senior Magistrate Monica Kivuti at Makadara Law Courts.

Alvina Ochieng denied the charges and pleaded for lenient bail conditions.

She was released on a cash bail of KSh30,000.

The case will be mentioned on December 7, 2023 ahead of the trial on July 26, 2024.

Similar Incident

In July this year, a woman from Mathare, Nairobi County was charged with cruelty to a child following a viral video of her assaulting her six-month old child.

The suspect allegedly shared the video with the child’s father before posting it on social media. In the video she was heard hurling insults at the minor while she dressed him after a bath.
