Athletics Kenya (AK), in partnership with Betika, has announced the 4th edition of the AK Track and Field Weekend Meet, scheduled to take place on April 4-5, 2025, at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
The highly anticipated event will feature elite and upcoming athletes competing across 11 track and field disciplines, including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 5000m, and 10,000m walk. Field events such as hammer throw, discus throw, and triple jump will also be contested.
The meet, part of the national athletics calendar, is expected to attract top talents from across the country as they prepare for upcoming international competitions, including the World Championships and the Paris 2025 Olympics qualifiers.
Prize Money and Registration
Athletes will compete for attractive cash prizes, with winners in each category receiving Ksh. 20,000, while the second and third-place finishers will take home Ksh. 15,000 and Ksh. 10,000, respectively.
Registration is open via this link, and all participants must collect their bib numbers on April 3, 2025, between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM at Afraha Stadium.
This meet comes at a time when Kenya is intensifying efforts to nurture athletics talent at the grassroots level. The AK Track and Field Weekend Meet has provided a crucial platform for young athletes to gain exposure and compete alongside seasoned runners.
