Drug and substance abuse among the youth has become prevalent due to various factors such as; unemployment, peer pressure, negative social media influence, and so on.

In the wake of this menace, Kenyan leaders and other citizens have invented ways of awakening the youth spirit through platforms that showcase their talents and skills.

Philanthropist Dennis Ouma is among the many who have jumped in on this drive to save the youth from themselves through sports.

Hundreds of fans flocked Posta Grounds ready to cheer on their peers as well as participate in other activities including; dancing, theatrics, spoken word among others.

Speaking after the event, the tournament’s sponsor Dennis Ouma affirmed that owing to the enthusiasm expressed by the youth, he will reach out to the local government and private stakeholders to facilitate next year’s program.

According to him, the tournament should take place three times a year to keep the mostly idle youth preoccupied as well as offer a platform to improve their talent in the sport.

Football being the most popular sport, the Carlos D’Way Foundation tournament hopes to be a stepping stone for youth to realize their dreams- some of playing for international clubs- by participating in the tournament.

Kenyan leaders including; governors, senators and Members of Parliament (MPs) have launched their own tournaments in efforts to address issues facing the young people.
