In a shocking turn of events, police have found Mercy Awuor, a 26-year-old woman reported missing by her boyfriend, Brian Andole, living with her husband, George Odada, in Oldonyo Orok, Narok County.
The discovery comes after an investigation led by the DCI’s Operations and Crime Research Unit, following claims by Brian Andole that Mercy had been kidnapped and a ransom demanded.
Brian Andole, who had lived with Mercy in Nairobi for over a year, reported her disappearance on November 9th.
According to him, kidnappers had demanded a ransom for her release, prompting him to criticize the police for what he described as their slow response to the case.
However, the investigation revealed a different story. Mercy was found in Narok, living with Odada, whom she claims is her lawful husband and the father of her two children.
Odada confirmed the relationship, stating that he had paid dowry for Mercy before she left their home to move to Nairobi.
“Their customs require that they give cows, and they have given almost two cows to her parents. So, he is officially married to Mercy,” explained a DCI officer. “Andole claims she is his wife, but we are discovering she is married to another man.”
Mercy Awuor admitted to having an affair with Andole but clarified that she was not kidnapped.
Instead, she stated that she chose to end her relationship with him and return to her village. “I was never kidnapped,” she said. “I left on my own to return to my husband and children.”
Meanwhile, Police have since arrested Mercy Aquitaine, George Odada, and a close friend of Mercy who is accused of using their phone to demand the ransom.
Investigators are now working to determine whether the ransom demands were part of a deliberate scheme or a misunderstanding.
The incident has sparked widespread debate about relationships and accountability, with many questioning the role of trust and communication in Mercy’s situation.
For now, the authorities are treating the case as both a domestic issue and a potential criminal matter.
Meanwhile, Brian Andole has yet to issue a statement following the revelation that the woman he believed to be his partner was legally married to another man.
