National Construction Authority terminates six top officials over gros

The National Construction Authority has dismissed six of his top officials off their job over gross misconduct allegations.

In a report released by the National Construction Authority (NCA), the accused officers are to leave the premises with immediate effect upon receiving the letter.

The six officials are said to have approved sites that didn’t qualify the standards for constructions.

“On the third of October 2023, you together with your colleagues participated in an unauthorized meeting at the Java Restaurant along Thika Road Mall wioth one Mingi Kubai a contractor whose site you had suspended earlier.” NCA’s Executive Director Maurice Akech wrote on the dismissal letter.

“During this meeting you jointly with your colleagues made demands for the payment of money to yourselves in order to assist Mr Mungai’s site reopened.”  Akech said.

The officials accused of misconduct are compliance officers for Nairobi Regional Office Mr. Douglas Okedi, Allan Thairu, Brian Otuke, Josephine Wanjira, Ibrahim Hassan and Felix Kibet.

The driver who drove them to the meeting has also been dismissed.

The Conduct, based on the findings of their actions amounts to gross misconduct punishable by summary dismissal in line with the provisions of section 44 of the Employment Act of 2007.

The six officials have 14 days to appeal their dismissal.

They are also expected to clear the Authority by returning any property that belongs to the company as they wait for their final payment of salary.
