The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has scheduled its elections for April 24, 2025, following a comprehensive roadmap of preparatory activities starting in February. These activities include the recruitment and establishment of an electoral board, the development of an electoral code of conduct, candidate nominations, verification of voters and candidates, and publishing the list of eligible candidates.
The tenure of the current NOC-K officials, led by President Paul Tergat, concludes in 2024. In preparation for the transition, the committee has engaged its 28 member federations to ensure a smooth electoral process. Newly affiliated federations, including E-sports, Ice Hockey, Breaking, Cricket, Lacrosse, and Gymnastics, will not have voting rights but will be integrated into the committee’s programs.
Paul Tergat, who will step down after serving two terms, emphasized the need for an inclusive and transparent election process that aligns with the Olympic values of excellence. He also highlighted the committee’s achievements, particularly in forging partnerships with 16 organizations and diversifying funding sources.
“Let me also reaffirm that we attach premium to financial sustainability as a cornerstone of our operations, hence the diversified funding approach we embraced this year comprising of increased sponsorship, strategic partnerships, and prudent financial management,” Tergat stated during the committee’s annual general meeting.
