On Sunday, 8th September, the National U18 trials will be held at the RFUEA Grounds starting at 8:00 am, with U18 Manager Joseph Guchu overseeing the day’s operations.
Over the past four months, Under 18 trials have been conducted across the country, and the selected players from each region will showcase their talents on Sunday.
“The regional U18 festival, set for 8th September at the RFUEA Grounds, marks an exciting chapter for schoolboy rugby in Kenya. This event is the beginning of what could become Kenya’s version of Craven Week, where the top U18 talents from across the country compete in high-stakes matches to form a national team. A total of 240 players from seven regions will vie for 60 spots in the Kenya U18 squad for 2024. It’s a thrilling time for Kenya rugby as we work to secure the future of Chipu, Shujaa, and the Kenya Simbas,” said Odera.
The seven participating regions are Eastern, Rift Valley, Nyanza, Central, Western, Nairobi, and Coast, along with the Barbarians—a team composed of standout players from all regions who narrowly missed selection in their local trials.
The regions are divided into two pools: Pool A consists of Western, Eastern, Nairobi, and Barbarians, while Pool B includes Rift Valley, Nyanza, Central, and Coast.
