Kenyan rapper Nazizi Hirji has disclosed that she has not been able to leave the house more than two months after her son’s demise.
Taking to Instagram, Nazizi said she has been in a dilemma on whether or not to leave the house.
Her three-year-old son Jazeel Adam passed away last Christmas at a hotel they were staying during their Tanzania vacation.
“To everyone encouraging me to get out of the house, thank you but…Its been two and a half months of this battle,” she wrote.
Nazizi acknowledged that leaving the house would be refreshing but she did not have the strength to ‘face the world again’ just yet.
“The world doesn’t wait for the grieving, It expects you to bounce back. See things positively, be grateful and smile politely when being told ‘time is a healer’ All of these things have felt like bullshit to me.”
Last week, Nazizi shared an update on Instagram saying she was utterly devastated two months on.
“Suffocating, drowning, unbreakable pain and confusion. I miss you my Jazzy, mama needs you.”
She broke the news of her second born’s untimely death on December 26 in a statement on social media.
“It is with profound sorrow and deepest heartache that we confirm the tragic passing of Jazeel, the beloved son of Nazizi Hirji on Christmas Day, December 25th in Tanzania,” the statement read in part.
The young boy was buried the same day according to the Islamic religion.
According to photos shared by her cousin and Tanzanian musician Jaffarai, those in attendance were her long-time friends, Wyre and Prezzo.
Nazizi had a tough time with her late son whom she realized had profound hearing loss when he was a few months old.
Jazeel as young as he was, was fitted with hearing aids on February 28,2023, but, unfortunately, they noticed it didn’t help as much to develop his speech.
The boy underwent a successful Cochlear Implant Surgery on August 3 the same year and began improving.
