NBA player fined 4.5 million for obscene middle finger gesture

Minnesota Timberwolves all-star guard Antony Edwards has been fined $35,000 (Ksh4.5M) by the NBA for raising the middle finger at a fan.

The Timberwolves faced the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Centre in their opening match of the Emirates NBA Cup on Saturday, 16th November.

Edwards flipped off at a fan in the first quarter of the game and raised a middle finger to the crowd.

The gesture proved costly, as he was fined heavily by the league for violating NBA rules.

On Sunday, NBA executive vice president Joe Dumars announced Edwards would be fined $35,000 (Ksh 4,522,000) for the obscene gesture.
