The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership in Ndhiwa Constituency has dismissed the results of last year’s grassroots elections, terming them fraudulent and unrepresentative of the people’s will.
Speaking to the press, ODM Constituency Chair Daniel Odeny claimed that while the elections were properly conducted, a separate group allegedly met elsewhere and compiled a list of officials who were not duly elected.
“We had a transparent and well-organized election process, but to our shock, an unknown group sat elsewhere and came up with a different list of officials. As the legitimate ODM branch in Ndhiwa, we do not recognize that list,” Odeny stated.
Adding to the concerns, ODM Constituency Organizing Secretary Peter Odero revealed that the disputed list contained names of deceased individuals and people who never took part in the electoral process.
“It is unacceptable that names of people who are no longer with us appear on that list. How can someone who never participated in the exercise suddenly emerge as an official? This is outright electoral fraud,” Odero lamented.
The leadership in Ndhiwa has vowed to challenge the legitimacy of the results, insisting on corrective measures to restore transparency and credibility within the party’s electoral process.
“As loyal members of ODM, we demand fairness. We cannot allow ghost officials to be imposed on us. We will do whatever it takes to ensure justice prevails,” Odeny affirmed.
The dispute highlights ongoing concerns over grassroots election integrity within the party, with local leaders calling for reforms to prevent future irregularities. As tensions rise, ODM’s national leadership may be compelled to intervene to resolve the standoff.
