Ne-Yo has made it clear—he’s unbothered by the backlash surrounding his polyamorous relationship.
The Miss-independent singer responded to critics with a bold statement, letting them know their disapproval means nothing to him.

After facing scrutiny for being romantically involved with influencer Arielle Hill and OnlyFans models Phoenixx Feather and Bella.
Ne-Yo monogamy is not for everyone
The R&B star took to social media with a simple yet striking message.
In a Feb. 20 Instagram Story, he mockingly quoted his detractors:
“Them: ‘Ne-Yo, we don’t approve of your poly relationship.’”
Accompanying the post was a selfie of the singer in a black-and-white shirt that read,
“Fun fact: I don’t care.” His wide grin in the photo only reinforced his unapologetic stance.

The 45-year-old, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, finalized his divorce from ex-wife Crystal Renay in 2023 after seven years of marriage.

Speculation about his non-traditional relationship began in July of that year when he was spotted on a Los Angeles beach holding hands with both Arielle and Bella.
Singer confirms dating multiple women
By 2024, he confirmed he was dating not just the two women but also Phoenixx.
Addressing the controversy, Ne-Yo made it clear that monogamy isn’t for him.
Speaking on Lemon Drop The Show in November, he explained, “Monogamy is for you. It’s not for me.”
However, he emphasized that his choices were not a critique of traditional relationships.
“I’m not sh—ting on marriage. I’m not sh—ting on anyone who has figured out how to make that thing work for them.
Again, everything’s not for everybody.”

The Miss Independent singer, who has three children with Crystal and four from previous relationships, revealed that he once tried to conform to monogamy but felt it wasn’t his truth.
“As long as my happy ain’t messing with anybody else’s happy, I’m in the right place,” he said. “
I’ll be damned if I ever go back to that person that needed to lie for the appeasement of somebody else.
I’m not that no more.”
Ne-Yo’s partners have also defended their relationship, with Phoenixx expressing on Instagram,
“We stand on a solid foundation. A lot of people will never understand that, and that’s cool.
Just know it’s us vs. nobody .”
Despite the public’s mixed reactions, Ne-Yo and his partners remain steadfast in their choices, proving that, for them, love doesn’t have to fit into society’s mold.
