His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands are set to visit Kenya, at the invitation of President William Ruto.
According to a communique from the Royal House of the Netherlands, the visit will take place from Tuesday, March 18, 2025 to Thursday, March 20, 2025.
This will be the Dutch monarch’s first state visit to Kenya, which the communique says will be a “reaffirmation of the good relations and solid cooperation between our two countries.”
During the historic visit, the Netherlands will be seeking to engage in new partnerships in various areas, and to deepen the countries’ existing ties.
“Kenya plays an increasingly influential role in the global arena. In addition, the Netherlands and Kenya maintain close economic relations, and both are major hubs and gateways to large regions.
“Within the UN and other international organisations, too, our two countries work together actively towards goals relating to democracy, the rule of law and independence of the judiciary. The Netherlands and Kenya also work together on challenges relating to peace and security, climate change and food security,” the communique released on Tuesday, January 7 reads.
Economic missions focusing on sustainable agriculture and water will also take place in parallel with the King and Queen’s state visit.
