Farmers in Chepseon and Kipkelion East Sub County, Kericho County, are set to benefit from improved access to fertilizer and seeds following the opening of a new National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot in Chepseon.
The facility, launched on Sunday March 16, 2025 by Principal Secretary for Agriculture Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh, aims to reduce the distance and cost of acquiring essential farm inputs, easing the burden on both small-scale and large-scale farmers.
With fertilizer now closer to farms, farmers can expect lower transportation expenses and more timely planting, which could significantly boost yields.

Speaking to farmers who were collecting farm inputs from the depot, Dr. Ronoh emphasized the need for large-scale planting to address food shortages and increase profitability.
“We are committed to ensuring that farmers have timely access to quality inputs. This depot brings services closer to you, reducing delays and lowering costs. We encourage farmers to expand their production to enhance food security and boost household incomes,” Dr. Ronoh said.
Local farmers welcomed the move, noting that delays in accessing quality inputs have often hindered production.
They expressed optimism that the new depot will streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance overall agricultural productivity in the region.
