A postmortem that was done on Saturday has revealed the cause of death of  Karanja Kabage. The city lawyer and business died of cardiac arrest.

Family and police were present during the autopsy, which was conducted at the Lee Funeral Home.

On Tuesday, a family spokesman said they were satisfied with the results of the autopsy.

The businessman lost his life on Friday on the road as he drove along Southern bypass near Kibera, Nairobi at 10pm.

According to police reports, Kabage had spent a large part of the day at the first annual Mount Kenya High-Level Uongozi Forum at Safari Park where he was a panelist.

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyamabi said when Kabage was heading to Karen when his vehicle veered off the road. A taxi driver, who stopped at the scene, took him to Nairobi Hospital upon Kabage’s request.

On arrival, Kabage was unconscious and doctors' efforts to resuscitate him failed and he was pronounced dead.

His burial has been set for Friday at his Mangu Rongai Home

in Nakuru County.

Kabage is among leaders who attended Bob Collymore’s memorial service at All Saints Cathedral on Thursday.

The businessman has also served in various organisations, such as the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Labour Advisory Board and Energy Regulatory Authority Commission.

In 2017, he unsuccessfully ran for the Nakuru County senatorial seat.

He was mourned by President Uhuru Kenyatta as, "a resourceful person who was always willing and ready to offer legal aid to those who sought his help.”

“It is painful to lose a great friend at a time like this. I pray that God will give the family, friends, and relatives comfort and fortitude at this trying moment,” continued Uhuru.
