Government is yet to reach its 40 million target of registered people with Huduma Namba despite extending for a week after the first deadline. Left with one day to the closure of public exercise, a few million people are yet to register.

Among local citizens who have not registered is

also public figures.

Former Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant Martha Karua is among the few Kenyans who have opposed registering for Huduma number. In a tweet to Nairobi Women Rep, Esther Passaris, Karua declared she is 'not boarding' in the nationwide exercise.

Since the Huduma Namba introduction, there has been a segment of people resisting the exercise, citing different shortcomings.

I) Insufficient civic education -- despite the fact that over 36 million people have already registered, a majority still have not understood the importance of the exercise.

II) Data protection -- currently there isn't a clear stipulated data protection policy in Kenya. With the increased rate of mobile and cybercrime where personal data is hacked, most people are hesitant to give away personal information.

Newly appointed government spokesman Cyrus Oguna Thursday said that some people will be forced to register again if there is a mismatch after a consolidation of data.
