The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is probing a case where a police officer in Kakamega is accused of defiling and impregnating a minor.

The police constable is said to have defiled the 15-year-old girl in Ikolomani sub-County.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the police officer preyed on the girl who had been sent on an errant by her grandmother.

Reports indicate that the cop, identified as Victor, tricked the girl into coming to his house, telling her that he wants to send her on some errands.

It is after the girl entered his house that the police officer reportedly defiled her, impregnating her in the process.

"Nilikuwa nimetumwa kupeleka ndizi na nyanya yangu. Alafu polisi huyo akaniita niende anitume. Akaniambia niingie ndani ya nyumba, akafunga mlango alafu akanirusha kwa kitanda na akanibaka," narrates the victim, who was set to join form one after sitting for her KCPE examination.

The family of the minor is crying for justice, saying that no action has been taken against the suspect despite reporting the matter to relevant authorities.

"Nilimpa ndizi ampelekee shangazi yake. Aliporudi hakuniambia yaliyomsibu. Sasa juzi ndiyo nikagundua kuwa mwili wake siyo mzuri. Nilimpeleka hospitalini na madaktari wakabaini kuwa ana uja uzito. Nilipomwuliza mimba ni ya nani? Alisema ni ya askari," says the victim's grandmother.

Area MP condemns the act

Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali has strongly criticised the incident, calling upon the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to intervene and see into it that justice is served.

Kakamega South sub-County police Commander Sadiq William says DNA samples of the girl's unborn baby has been taken to determine whether the suspect is the biological father.

"The girl is two months pregnant. The case has been taken by DCI Kakamega South. After investigations, the respective course of action will be taken against the suspect. As per now, probe is ingoing," says Sadiq.
