Farmers Party leader Irungu Nyakera now says that Mt Kenya region will not accept to be shortchanged in Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Reacting to the coalition's power-sharing deal deposited at the Registrar of Political Parties, Nyakera says that a region that holds the lion's share of eligible voters in the country will not settle for less.

According to the Murang'a gubernatorial aspirant, Deputy President William Ruto should pick his running mate from the region.

Consequently, Nyakera wants Mt Kenya leaders to be appointed in powerful government positions in the event that Ruto wins the August 9 presidential race.

Kenya Kwanza power-sharing deal

In the power-sharing deal, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula will be allocated 30% of the government's appointive positions. In addition, Mudavadi will be appointed Chief Cabinet Secretary if Ruto wins the presidency.

The National Assembly Speaker position has been reserved for Wetangula’s Ford Kenya Party.

A section of politicians from Mt Kenya feel that the regions has been sidelined by the power-sharing structure.
