In Summary
- Evans Kidero lost the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat to ODM Party's Gladys Wanga
Wanga garnered 244,559 votes while Kidero bagged 154,182 votes
Homa Bay County gubernatorial candidate Evans Kidero says that he had more votes than what the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced.
Speaking on Friday, Kidero said that the will of the Homa Bay people was not respected during the gubernatorial elections.
"We will be looking at the next step because the will of the Homa Bay people has been subverted. Their will has not been respected because they vote for me overwhelmingly.
"Homa Bay people were never allowed to do nominations on April 14 because somebody was appointed. They told me to stand and they did what they could have done. They are not going to allow impositions of leaders as it was imposed on them during nominations and in the past many elections," Kidero said.
The ex-Nairobi county governor further refuted the gubernatorial results announced by IEBC saying he was expecting over 200,000 votes.
"I was expecting 225,000 votes and that's what I got. The ten years where Homa Bay was in ICU will continue for the next five years and the people of Homa Bay will not accept that," he added.
Kidero lost the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat to ODM Party's Gladys Wanga.
Wanga garnered 244,559 votes against Kidero's 154,182 votes while UDA's Mark Raudi was a distant third with 1,244 votes.
Wanga now becomes the first female governor in Nyanza, a region that has six counties namely; Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira.
