Man in court for stealing IEBC laptop

An employee of DMS Limited was on Friday arraigned at the  Milimani Law Courts, facing an offence of stealing a laptop from the office of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The accused, Musa Ogendo Sirangi, is said to have committed the offence on 17th August 2022 at the IEBC offices at Anniversary Towers along the University Way in Nairobi.

However, Sirangi - who appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki -  could not plead to the criminal charge alleging that he had been beaten up in the police station where he was held.

The trial magistrate directed that the accused person be taken to the hospital and be produced to court on 22nd August 2022 for purpose of plea taking.

"I direct that the accused person be taken to the hospital and  be brought back on Monday 22nd August 2022," Ondieki directed.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person stole a laptop make HP Probook 430 GB serial number 5CD2216NGD valued at KSh226,240.
