Former CJ Maraga attends the swearing-in of six judges at State House

Six judges have taken oath of office at State House in a ceremony presided by President William Ruto.

The six were rejected by former President Uhuru Kenyatta after being recommended by the Judicial Service Commission.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi and former Chief Justice David Maraga were among those present for the ceremony.

The sworn-in judges include: High Court judges Joel Ngugi, George Odunga, Aggrey Muchelule and Weldon Korir recommended to the Appellate court. Chief Magistrate Evans Makori and High Court registrar Judith Omange recommended to join the Environment and Land Court.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi and former Chief Justice David Maraga were among those present for the ceremony.

President Ruto asserted that his government will observe the rule of law and respect the Judiciary and other independent institutions.
