Mother and two children killed as 6-storey building collapses in Kiambu

Several people are feared dead after a six-storey building collapsed in the wee hours of Monday, September 26 morning in Kirigiti, Kiambu County.

Confirming the incident, Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi said that several people have already been pulled out of the rubbles and rushed to hospital.

"Rescue and search efforts undergoing at Kirigiti collapsed six-storeyed building. Several people have already been pulled out of the rubble and rushed to the hospital. Sadly, some are feared to have succumbed to their injuries," Wamatangi says.

A mother and her two children have been confirmed to be those who have lost their lives in the accident.

Rescue operations are still underway spearheaded by Kiambu County Fire & Disaster Management Department, Kenya Police, Kenya Defence Forces, Kenya Red Cross, and volunteers.
