Details have emerged that one of the eight police officers killed during a banditry attack in Turkana on Sunday, September 25 was set to marry in December this year.

Edwin Omare was set to wed his girlfriend whom they have one daughter this December, fellow police officer and his neighbour in Kisii County - Sammy Ondimu Ngare - says.

"The guy on the picture below was among the GSU officers who lost their lives pale Turkana. A young vibrant officer from my home area Kisii. An Officer who was about to start a family this December. Ooh God! He is no more," Ondimu mourns in a lengthy Facebook post.

The young cop is said to have left the college a few months ago with the hope of serving the nation.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto has promised to wipe out the bandits who have reign terror in Turkana, Baringo and Kerio Valley areas.

In a statement released on Sunday, September 25 evening, Ruto said he had instructed security agencies to firmly deal with the perpetrators of the attack.

"After receiving a comprehensive report on the Turkana/Pokot incident that led to 10 security/administration officers losing their lives, I have instructed security agencies to deal firmly, decisively and conclusively with those involved. Cattle rustling will stop na sio tafadhali," Ruto said in a tweet.
