Death toll in Kiambu building collapse hits 5 as two more bodies retrieved

A six-year-old has been rescued from the rubbles of the six-storey building that collapsed in Kirigiti, Kiambu County on Monday, September 26 morning.
The girl had remained home as her mother went to work when the unfinished building collapsed, crashing into the residential building adjacent to it.
The girl has been rushed to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital for medical checkup.
Unfortunately, five people - including a mother and her two children - have been killed in the incident that continues to raise public concerns in Kiambu, with many buildings under construction collapsing.
Confirming the early morning incident, Kiambu County Police Commander Perminius Kioi says the search and rescue operation is still underway.
Kioi says that seven people have so far being rescued from the rubbles and have been rushed to the same hospital for specialised treatment.
